NYC Time

The other day, we took the train to Grand Central Station (NYC) and the subway uptown to walk 4 blocks to The Metropolitan Museum of Art. When we left at 7:00 am it was raining +11 C and when we were driving back from the train at 9:30 pm it was +3.5 C. The next day, looking out our window, no longer saw snow but there was green grass. Can you image, so much green grass in December, it looked like April/May out there.

On the way to the museum, Lexington and East 84 St was a Luncheonette with pop (soda) bottles in the display window. Thought it was pretty neat.
The day at the museum was fantastic. We tried, but just couldn't see everything. Was a fun day.....

Baby Time

I have just finished Lesson 1 of Up and Running. A self-paced class at jessicasprague.com  This is my digital template layout from class.  I learned important stuff like photo resolution is 300 ppi for scrapbooking; general rule of thumb for text is 12 pt in size and 18 pt in leading. Original layout with layers is saved as .psd file. Save as .jeg for printing or cd storage. When saving .jeg for the web, resize layout from large printable size to web friendly size  using Image, then Resize, then Image Size and setting Resolution: 72; Resample Image: checked; dropdown box: Bicubic Sharper. I expect to be saving my documents with extensions documentname.psd; documentname-Finished.jeg; documentname-WebSized.jeg
If the document is not going to be printed or externally saved or sent to web then just leave at documentname.psd which contains all layers for editing purposes.  So far, so good......

Scrap Time

Played a game on wescrap.com called Tag Your It based on a kids game "Telephone".  Starts out with one person getting a layout to scraplift. That person has 72 hours to do the lift and e-mail their layout back to the coordinator, who will send the completed layout to the next person on the list. All layouts are kept secret until the end, when the revel is done and everyone gets to see all the layouts and how they changed from beginning to end. There were two teams that competed against each other. It was fun.

Traffic Time

Traffic came to a stop today (and it wasn't because of me!) In the other lane, a postal truck had his emergency lights on, and was trying to figure a way to get a really big turtle off the middle of the road. I wish I would of taken a picture. This turtle was not happy. It was truly amazing and I don't know what happened. I didn't go back to see.

Seminar Time

I attended the Get Motivated one-day seminar, this past week, at the Hartford Civic Center along with 19,000 people at this downtown event. The Get Motivated seminars is a Florida company run by Tamara and Peter Lowe who deliver similar events across the country. A full day which included many high profile speakers on topics of perseverance, motivation, leadership, sales, negotiation, business skills and teamwork. Tamara Lowe was one of the speakers along with Joe Montana (NFL Quarterback), Zig Ziglar (Motivation speaker), Steve Forbes (President and CEO of Forbes, Inc), Rudy Giuliani (Mayor of NYC durng 9/11), General Colin Powell (Soldier-Statesman) and Special Guest Laura Bush (former First Lady). I thoroughly enjoyed the information and stories throughout this event.

Quiet Time

Once the sun goes down it gets really noisy outside with the night life (grasshoppers). I like listening to them.

CT Time

Notice how the traffic lights are in the middle of the intersection. And there is a light for each lane of traffic in all directions. This is very common and I quite like this.

Saw the movie and enjoyed it immensely. It just didn't seem right to go home and have ham and eggs after a movie like that. At least it wasn't pizza.

Shopping Time

From ebay, got a comb made from a yak. A note came with it with a picture of yaks and a map showing the flight route from Tibet to Shanghai, across the ocean to me. The note says, "This wonderful product comes from Tibet is located in west China and Shanghai customs is in the east China. This product first departs from Tibet, crosses the whole China, arrives at Shanghai customs, and then leaves China by plane to your country. This is a very long journey and takes several days. Therfore, please forgive its late. Thank you very much for your understanding and best of blessings to you!" I thought this was a nice note.

Graduating high school is quite an event around town. As a note of interest, during the school year, the yellow school bus picks up and drops off kids at the end of their driveway.
